More snow? Again?

Happy dogs
Yes, more snow again this morning.  However, PG county schools are open and so is Applewoods.

"Sugar, I need help."" "Find my gloves."

What can you do with an Applewoods Utility trained dog who understands how to "Find mine" which is a scent discrimination exercise AND understands following hand signals?

"Dogs, Come!"

"Sugar, Sit"
"Sugar, Find Mine" Sugar's looking..
and he's got my gloves spotted
and goes UP on his hind legs to get the job done
and as any well-trained Applewoods dog knows, he then brings the item back to me.

"Atta boy, Sugar!"

Applewoods Closed Saturday

Due to the parking situation and the icy roads with more snow expected, Applewoods will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014.  Stay safe.

Applewoods Closed Again

Due to the weather, Applewoods will be closed on Feb. 14, 2014 as we follow the PG County School system closings.  Have a Happy Valentines' Day.  Take some pics of your dogs in the snow and send them to elice@applewoodsdogtraining.com and I will post them for all to see here.

Applewoods Closed

Since Applewoods Dog Training follows the schedule of Prince George's County School system, we will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 13 which also means no class Thursday evening at Fidos For Freedom. Hope to see everyone next Thursday at Fidos. Remember we will need good snow photos  for next year's calendar so take some good shots of your dogs in the snow.

Freak snowstorm is the PERFECT training time..

Perfect training weather for Applewoods Labs who love snow and retrieving dead birds!

Where can an Applewoods obedience trained dog go? How about competing at Westminster?

Nearly 2 years ago, Roxanne took Diego, a student's dog, worked to refine his on & off leash skills for 6 months, then went and put his CD (Companion Dog) title on him.

Stephanie, Diego's owner, then took her obedience trained dog, spend 2 years working with him in Agility and Saturday competed at Westminster!

Wow! Way to go Stephanie & Diego!

Houdini plays with Promise or You've come a long way, baby!

It was nice to see Houdini play with Promise, Caruso and Derek today so here are some photos from their romp. For those of you who don't know Houdini, she has come a long way from being a street dog in Central America to being a polite canine hanging out with people and other dogs.

Promise working the attention available from Angela.

The collars came off just after this photo.

Promise surveys her kingdom.

Caruso could not help but get involved.

Look at the expression on Houdini's face.  She is having a blast.

Promise playing the "crouching tiger" game. Houdini is just out of view on left.

Houdini thinks Derek is OK.

Derek whispering sweet nothings in Houdini's ear.

Wanna run?

Promise shows off (note no collars on Houdini or Promise, due to this kind of play)

Houdini practices her ballet moves.

Note the running going on in the background.

Day Care and Boarders sleep well at night

Tug of war with the jolly ball.

How many paws are touching the ground?

Goose and Duke tug of war with the ball while Sanity plays referee.

Goose runs blindly ahead toward Ben.

Whoops! Collision time!
Sherpa standing on the log in front of me with the look on her face like she would like to be a lap dog.

I sat down for 5 minutes and Rosie thought she should get in my lap.
