All Stars 2014. Team Applewoods scores BIG!

All Stars 2014 in York, PA.
Six rings, 2 days, 3 obedience events per dog.  Whew!

The open class was three runs in different exercise order but only two sets of stays over the weekend. Utility was three full runs with different exercise order.

Individual Results?

Eric and Murphy (brown Labadoodle) placed 7th out of 30 in individual Open competition (-17.5 PTS)

Ben and Jan placed 5th in open (-16.5 )
Jan and Ben beat Murphy and Eric by 1 point out a possible 540 points possible!). :-

Roxanne and Sugar placed 2nd in utility out of 25! (-36.5)

 Team Results?

Team Applewoods got Second place out of 24 teams. (-70.5) These are the 4 placement teams.

Competition was tough, the spread between 2nd and 8th place in our Open was less than 6 points. Murphy and Eric actually tied for 7th/8th and won our runoff to get 7th. A runoff with a long pattern with three judges and everyone in the entire place watching was more difficult than Eric or Murphy thought it would be. All other rings were taken down and everyone is watching the run off competitions while waiting for the awards ceremony.

According to Eric, the real hero of the weekend was Mr. Slow and Steady Sugar! The point spread near the top of Open was very tight, but there were much larger spreads in Utility. Sugar was one of two dogs (out of 25 in utility) who did not NQ (not qualify) on ANY exercise all weekend! That got him second place in Utility by a good margin AND that is why Team Applewoods got second place!
